Mr. Dolphus seems like he is always drunk, but he actually isn't. He acts drunk because he hangs out with the colored folk. In the book, Dill needs a drink of something and Mr. Dolphus offers. "Scout, it's nothings but Coca-Cola." Instead of drinking himself silly, he pretends to be drunk so the other people of the town don't judge him for where he lives and the people he hangs out with. Mr. Dolpus is a good person, the townsfolk just don't see it.

Comment: Randi said- Ashley!!!! This is amazing! I agree with you 110% lol! You did very good in this passage! Mr. Dolphus isn’t that bad of a guy

Comment : Kelsie said “Ashley this is very good. I would have to agree with you because Mr. Dolphus really isn’t that bad of a guy.

Comment : Kelsie said “ Ashley I really like the way you wrote this. It’s very good. You could make a few changes in the last part where it says “where he lives” you could say where he lives and who he prefers to be friends with.

Comment: Kelly said, “I like how you ended the paragraph. That was very very very good!!! I loved it. But anyways, I think to make this better, you could add a little bit more to the beginning or put it into different words. Other than that, it is perfect!!! J

Comment: I think that you have a good paragraph, and I agree he is a good guy, but I think he should just be himself, he shouldn’t care about what people think about him.

My Four Day Weekend

This weekend was a lot of fun for me. On Thursday night, I went to Christina's house and we had a movie party. We watched The Labyrinth, Muppet Treasure Island, and Young Frankenstein. We watched more, I just can't remember. My favorite was Young Frankenstein. Igor was my favorite character 'cause he was funny and pronounced his name eye-gor. On Friday Christina and I hung out and basically did nothing. Saturday was fun too. I went to Lyman for All State Band auditions and I think I have a good chance of getting in. The ride home was interesting because I was sitting by all the seniors and they have wacky conversations. Sunday was just a tipical Sunday of going to church. Monday I was hanging out with Bobbi Morgan all day. It was a lot of fun. For breakfast, we went to Smith's and got donuts and candy bars, then Subway for lunch. This was a good weekend for me.

She Said Yes. I am not currently reading this book, but I had read recently. The reason I like this book is because the girl on the front page, Casey Burnall, was martyred for saying yes when asked if she believed in God. I found this book very interesting, because Casey was going through a rough time and she wasn't sure about everything, but she turned out to have a good view of life in the end.

Q1: I don't understand why Boo doesn't come out. If he came out side and every one saw that he is a good guy, then they wouldn't be scared of him. He is clearly a good guy 'cause he put the blanket on scout.

Q2: Why must Aunt Alexandra be so rude? Just because Scout is a little tom-boyish doesn't mean she needs to change. She is happy the way she is right now.

Q3: When did Dill propose to Scout? I don't recall, but I know they are. Wouldn't you think Jem would have a problem with that?

Q4:How come Dill needs to lie all the time? Jem and Scout will still be friends with him even if his dad isn't the conductor for the rail road.
